Tim Morton
Co-Founder & Managing Partner
Mr. Morton has over 15 years of extensive investment management, operations and private equity experience with a particular focus on Business Software, Financial Services and eCommerce. Prior to Grove, Tim served as Director, Global Payments & Commerce Services at Microsoft Business Solutions where he led strategic development initiatives with a broad range of Business Software, Financial and Web Service companies. In this capacity, Mr. Morton defined and led the first major 'Commerce On-Demand' Software-as-a-Service initiative now rolling out with Microsoft Vista, PayPal, CIT Corporation, Chase/Paymentech, VISA, AMEX and several Retail/PC and IT Distributor channel partners. Tim also served as CEO/Founder of FurnishNet, Inc. under assignment through Grove Capital, and led the company to profitability and over $3 billion in total annual transaction volume and the subsequent sale to GE Retail Systems. FurnishNet today remains the most profitable subsidiary of GE Retail Systems and the largest, vertical IP-based Business to Business network serving the $120B Retail Accessories and Home furnishings Industry. From 1996 to 1999, Mr. Morton worked in the Private Banking Group, Montgomery Securities and was responsible for managing over $200MM in private equity distribution on behalf of VC's and high net worth individuals. From 1987 to 1993, Tim worked at the CIA's Office of Development and Engineering as a Senior Program Manager supporting classified satellite programs. In this capacity, Mr. Morton worked with a team that led over $300M in advanced technology development contracts with leading software and technology companies. In this capacity, Mr. Morton worked closely with several major Aerospace companies, Defense Research Institutions and Federally Funded Research and Development Centers (FFRDC's). Tim worked with Top Secret Clearances and earned the CIA Distinguished Service Award in 1992. Mr. Morton has served on the corporate boards of GE Reta!
il Systems Inc., FurnishNet Inc., and corporate advisor to IP Commerce Inc. Tim graduated from the College of William and Mary and received an MBA from Duke University. Mr. Morton was the Men's NCAA Division I United States Southern Conference Gymnastics Champion (1987 and 1988)
